Reporting to the Preschool
Manager, this full-time position will involve teaching responsibilities in a
new preschool setting. The
Down Syndrome
Research Foundation is now providing preschool with small classes in a professional atmosphere, a strong moral code,
and family values. The school for children
aged 2.5 to school age is dedicated to encouraging each individual to achieve
their best within this small, caring family environment.
Qualifications:
- Be enthusiastic, passionate about teaching and
able to demonstrate a genuine care for the individual children
- Able to incorporate a variety of teaching and learning
strategies
- Able to maintain open communications with parents
and work colleagues in building and maintaining a supportive and
encouraging team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience working with students with special
needs
- Early Childhood Education Diploma from a credible
educational institute
- Must be licensed to teach in
British Columbia
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and teach programs that cater for
the needs of each individual child in their care
- Keep abreast of educational development
- Keep accurate and updated ongoing records and
prepare reports
- Various other duties as needed

The Down Syndrome Research
Foundation is a registered Canadian charity whose mission is to maximize the
ability of individuals with Down syndrome, enabling them to lead independent
lives and to participate in the community in which they live. This is achieved
through research, education, information dissemination and clinical services.
The organization was founded
in 1995 due to the need expressed by concerned families and medical
professionals for more relevant information and research into Down syndrome.
Since its inception the DSRF has grown to be internationally recognized in the
Down syndrome community as a leading centre of excellence.
